Throughout Burj el-Barajneh camp buildings are lined with bullet holes a constant reminder of the Lebanese civil war, which lasted officially between 1975 & 1990. Palestinian refugees throughout Lebanon and specifically in those camps surrounding Beirut were subjected to countless attacks both during the Israeli invasion but also from various Lebanese military factions, including the U.S. / Israeli aligned Lebanese Falangists and also the Syrian backed AMAL militia which lead a military siege on Burj el-Barajneh in 1985.
