SOLIDARITY PICKET WITH AFGHAN REFUGEES
This solidarity action took place on 2 August, 2007. It was organized to show support for a group of 45 self organized Afghan refugees in Norway, who have been fighting against deportation back to Occupied Afghanistan. After a march of refugees and their supporters through Norway, over 21 Afghan refugees were arrested as of July 21st in what they call "waiting camps".The asylum seekers who where camping in front of the Norwegian parliament were arrested. 21 of them where imprissoned at the Trandum deportation camp. The rest were released. On June 30. 13 of the prisoners were deported to Kabul. On July 2.7 more were deported. Only one prisoner was remaining in the deportation camp. He was not deported because of his TB. He was released on July 5. But he has not got proper treatment. He is now living at Lier wainting camp - 30 km out of Oslo.
Several hundreds of afghan asylum seekers, who are classified as illegal refugees, are at the risk of being arrested and deported back to Afghanistan where the situation where occupied forces have led to more
instability across Afghanistan. They argue that Afghanistan is a safe place to return home to. Yet the Norweigan government does not want to admit that it's the occupation by US, Canadian, and NATO forces that is causing fear and instability. It is the occupation that has forced people
to seek justice and dignity outside of Afghanistan.
