Women Take Back Democratic Space: International Women's Day March

À chaque année à Montréal, comme dans plusieurs autres endroits dans le monde, nous prenons les rues pour dénoncer le patriarcat et le sexisme, et pour manifester contre le colonialisme, l'impérialisme, le capitalisme, le racisme et le fondamentalisme. Nous prenons les rues pour protester contre ces systèmes de domination qui nous victimisent, qui oppriment nos soeurs partout dans le monde et qui renforcent la violence faite aux femmes. Le 8 mars prochain, nous poursuivrons la lutte contre les déportations et les détentions, contre la violence sexiste, la brutalité policière, la criminalisation, la pauvreté, la précarité, le profilage racial, la guerre et les politiques d'immigration racistes et sexistes.

À chaque année, lorsque nous marchons à travers les rues de Montréal, nous refusons d'être infantilisées et réduites au statut de femme-objet par l'État et ses institutions patriarcales. Nous affirmons notre pouvoir et notre volonté de nous battre pour notre avenir, pour notre droit de déterminer notre futur sur nos propres bases, en tant qu'agentes à part entière de notre libération. Nous prenons également les rues pour célébrer et pour affirmer notre solidarité avec les luttes quotidiennes de nos soeurs, des terres autochtones occupées de " l'Amérique du Nord " jusqu'au du Sud global.

Cette année, nous nous souviendrons de la violence perpétrée par le Service de police de Montréal à l'endroit des femmes et de leurs alliés, pendant la manifestation du 8 mars 2007. Cette attaque policière contre des femmes témoigne de la violence patriarcale utilisée par l'État pour contrôler et criminaliser la lutte des femmes pour une vraie justice et une vraie dignité. Mais nous refusons d'avoir peur: cette année encore, nous reprendrons les rues!
