Speakers highlighted the fact that Sogi's request for a stay of deportation was recently rejected by the Federal Court, despite a request from the United Nations Committee against Torture (UN CAT) that the deportation of Mr. Singh be halted on the grounds that he will be at risk of torture if returned to India.
