Photo Essay: Anti-ZLEA
Upwards of 400 people took the streets of downtown Montreal on Friday November 4th, in a demonstration and reclaim the streets action to protest the Free Trade Area of the Americas negotiations currently taking place in Argentina. The demonstrations wereorganized by a coalition of anti-capitalist groups in Montreal, including a heavy participation from CLAC [the Anti-Capitalist Convergence of Montreal]. In this photo a street graffiti sprayed on St. Catherine street in downtown Montreal. Political the demonstrators rejected the FTAA and the growing push from the U.S. toward bilateral trade agreements with nations throughout the hemisphere. The action included street-theater, a critical-mass bike ride, fire throwing and speeches rejecting the neo-liberal economic ideology which the FTAA represents. Photos taken by Stefan Christoff of Indymedia Quebec. For more information on the demonstrations visit: www.bilateraux.cjb.net
