Protestors have converged in central Beirut within the Solidaire district built during the reconstruction of Lebanon after the civil-war was brought to an end in 1990. Solidaire is generally one of the most economically privileged areas of Beirut in a country were an estimated 35% of the population lives below the international poverty index rating.
